The Camel Story of the Three Brothers of Serendip: Part 2
After being arrested for supposedly stealing the camel the three brothers are brought before the emperor and asked to explain themselves.
The brothers were able to deduce that the camel was blind in one eye because it only ate the grass from one side of the road. They came to the conclusion that the camel was missing a tooth because some of the grass fell back out of the camel’s mouth in a shape of a whole left by a missing tooth. The brothers were also able to conclude that the camel was lame because the tracks showed that the camel was dragging one of its four feet. As for the butter and honey the brothers came to this conclusion because the ants were drawn to the melted butter on one side of the road and the flies were attracted to the honey on the other side of the road.
The three princes were released when a neighbor finds the missing camel and it becomes apparent that the brothers did not steal it. After explaining how the brothers came to their conclusions about the camel the emperor is quite impressed by the brothers and makes them his guests.
The emperor then gives them their next quest.
